SUMMARY:Gallery Quartet in Concert and Conversation
DESCRIPTION:The Gallery Quartet is a classical string quartet presenting wo
 rks by masters from the classical period to the present. Our quartet was f
 ounded over 40 years ago as the quartet in residence of the Washington Cou
 nty (MD) Museum of Fine Arts\, performing in the actual galleries of the m
 useum. Over time\, the personnel of the group has changed\, and our concer
 ts at the museum moved into a lovely recital hall\nbuilt to accommodate ch
 amber music. We enjoy the intimate setting that gives proximity to our lis
 teners and lends itself to interaction.\n\nOur program will include –\n\
 nBeethoven’s exuberant third Razumovsky quartet.  This set of quartets
  was commissioned by Count Andrey Razumovsky\, Russia's effervescent  Aus
 trian ambassador\, amateur musician and friend and patron of Beethoven.\n\
 nA string quartet arrangement of a lullaby by George Gershwin.  Did you 
 know George Gershwin wrote a jazzy all-American lullaby?\n\nQuartet arrang
 ements of Norwegian folk tunes – for some fiddling around!\n\nTchaikovsk
 y’s tender and loving Andante Cantabile from his first string quartet.\n
 \nEdvard Grieg’s stormy string quartet in g minor.  Hold onto your sea
 ts!
