SUMMARY:Letitia VanSant and Caleb Stine in Concert and Conversation
DESCRIPTION:After singing around campfires\, fingerpicking on front porches
\, and performing everywhere from concert halls to tiny basements\, Letiti
a VanSant and David McKindley-Ward are releasing the sounds of their ac
oustic collaboration.\nDavid grew up steeped in folk\, traditional\, and p
rotest music from all over the world. From the foundation of Pete Segeer a
nd Stan Rogers\, he found a love for Irish music on cassette tape recordin
gs of the old folk revival balladeers from the 50s and 60s. In recent year
s he has made a name for himself as a guitarist and singer of traditional
Irish music\, while still nurturing his roots in country and Americana.\nL
etitia’s shy childhood poems about fairies were put to music after she t
aught herself to play guitar on a beat-up Yamaha unearthed from an attic.
Her art slowly matured into introspective indie folk ballads and Americana
-rock anthems that have earned the favor of music lovers in her hometown B
altimore and beyond. “…her gentle singsong may strike you as sweet\, b
ut listen a little closer\, and you’ll realize she is spitting fire\,”
says Paste Magazine.\nDavid has been playing in Letitia’s band ever si
nce they became friends as roommates in a rowdy group house of eclectic mu
sicians. In this project he steps up to the mic as well\, adding his voice
and creativity to the arrangements.\n“If we are talking about songs wit
h impact...together they are a force to be reckoned with\,” says Frank H
ennessy of BBC Radio.\nRecorded mostly live in a living room\, their duo a
lbum features intricate guitar work\, ethereal lyrics\, and rich harmonies
from two distinctive vocal styles.\n\nCaleb Stine\nCaleb Stine is a singe
r-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and visual artist. Though he makes
 his living as a folk musician\, Stine wouldn’t call what he does a job\;
he considers it a calling. His work is part-mystic poet\, part-traveling
preacher. As Americana UK observed\, “Stine’s upfront personality [is]
seeking to make a personal connection with everyone in the venue.” Stin
e\, who plays 100+ shows a year\, has released 14 albums of original music
\, and shares a series of Instagram videos called “Caleb Stine Says Keep
Going\,” encouraging followers to dig deep into a creative practice of
their own.  He's a festival favorite\, has opened shows for Jason Isbell
and Sierra Hull\, and keeps a grass-roots presence by frequenting small ve
nues up and down the East Coast.
